Once technique of propaganda in 19th century ,1940;s and 1950's news papers and books was to mention previous articles that had been and their titles in italics and suggest and event involving these before as in 4 articles before.this would get the person curious enough to read news papers there being reference to say a character who wrote them.
similiar is done with silver age comics and hardy boys books.in italics there is reference to mystery of the talking clock or some such or the last detective case the hardy boys had been on.
